About AntiSpyCamKit

AntiSpyCamKit is an independent resource for travelers who want to protect their privacy in hotels, Airbnbs, and rental accommodations. We provide practical, evidence-based guides for detecting hidden cameras — no fear-mongering, no conspiracy theories.

Why we built this

In 2026, a BBC Eye investigation reported networks that hide cameras in hotel rooms in China and livestream the guests. It is not a fringe concern. In a June 2025 IPX1031 survey of 1,050 U.S. adults, 58% said they worry about hidden cameras in rentals.

Most existing resources on this topic are either sensationalized clickbait or thinly-veiled ads for expensive equipment. We wanted to create something genuinely useful: clear, actionable guides that anyone can follow with nothing more than a smartphone.

We earn revenue through affiliate commissions when you purchase recommended products through our links — this is how we keep all our guides free. We never let affiliate relationships influence our recommendations.

Our approach

Every guide is researched from published material: manufacturer specifications, independent reviews, news reporting, law enforcement reports, security industry publications, and the law itself. We link sources where we can, note when data is estimated, and update content as new information becomes available.

We do not own or test the detectors we write about. Product recommendations are based on manufacturer specifications and published independent reviews, and we describe each product's stated limits. Affiliate links are always disclosed, and we never let affiliate relationships influence our recommendations.

We're not a surveillance company, a security firm, or a tech startup. We're an independent editorial team focused on one thing: helping travelers protect their privacy. For full details on how we earn revenue, see our affiliate disclosure.
